Toerien van Wyk, FOIP Coordinator and Co-Director of SAHA

Toerien is an admitted attorney who holds a Masters of Laws: Human Rights Law degree (LLM) (cum laude) obtained from the University of Johannesburg as well as a Baccalaureus Legum degree (LLB) obtained from the University of South Africa. Toerien has experience in many facets of human rights law having worked as a legal consultant for the South African Human Rights Commission, a human rights researcher and a law lecturer. She has extensive experience in the use of freedom of information laws as a means of expanding the boundaries of access to informatino and has presented on this experience in various forums. 

  

 

Nonhlanhla Khumalo, FOIP Intern

Nonhlanhla joins SAHA as a FOIP Intern for the March 2017 intake. She is currently enrolled with the University of Johannesburg in the LLM- Human Rights Law programme and is in the second year of the LLM programme. She believes that this opportunity will help her grow into an aspiring legal professional and will also enable her to make contributions to the civil society in matters relating to social justice and public interest law.

 

 

Imraan Abdullah, FOIP Research Officer

Imraan joined the FOIP at the beginning of 2016 as a research officer. He is an admitted attorney and holds an LLM (Human Rights Law) from the University of Johannesburg. He has also obtained an LLB as well as a BA (International Relations and Law) degree from the University of Witwatersrand. He is passionate about social justice and has volunteered for a number of organisations in the past.
