Toerien van Wyk, FOIP Coordinator

Toerien joined SAHA in 2014 after having worked as a research associate in the office of the CEO and COO of the South African Human Rights Commission (SAHRC) and later as a legal consultant to the Gauteng provincial office of the SAHRC. She is an admitted attorney with an LLB degree from the University of South Africa who has experience in many facets of human rights law. Toerien started her legal career at Dreyer and Dreyer Attorneys where she completed her articles and has previously worked as a lecturer, teaching various legal courses at Varsity College and Damelin. 

  

 

Nonhlanhla Khumalo, FOIP Intern

Nonhlanhla joins SAHA as a FOIP Intern for the March 2017 intake. She is currently enrolled with the University of Johannesburg in the LLM- Human Rights Law programme and is in the second year of the LLM programme. She believes that this opportunity will help her grow into an aspiring legal professional and will also enable her to make contributions to the civil society in matters relating to social justice and public interest law.

 

 

Imraan Abdullah, FOIP Research Officer

Imraan joined the FOIP at the beginning of 2016 as a research officer. He is an admitted attorney and is also enrolled in the LLM (Human Rights) program with the University of Johannesburg and is currently in the second year of the two-year program. He has also obtained an LLB as well as a BA (International Relations and Law) degree from the University of Witwatersrand. He is passionate about social justice and has volunteered for a number of organisations in the past.
