PAIA Compliance

In terms of the Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000 sections 14 and 51 every Public and Private body must prepare and make available a manual which must contain the name and contact details of the body including the details of the Information Officer

In order for a PAIA manual to be valid under PAIA it must be updated annually by the requestee. Should it not be updated then in terms of PAIA the manual invalid due to it being out of date

In terms of the Municipal Finance Management Act 56 of 2003 section 24 every municipality must prepare and approve the annual budget 30 days before the budget year and in terms of section 22 the Municipality must publish the annual budget.

In terms of the Municipal Finance Management Act 56 of 2003 chapter 12, section 121 (1) every municipality and every municipal entity must for each financial year prepare an annual report in accordance with this chapter.

IDP Report

Integrated Development Plan (IDP)

In terms of the Municipality Systems Act 32 of 2000 section 34 every municipality must prepare and Integrated Development Plan every five years. The IDP is the municipalities’ method to plan for future developments within the area. The aim of the IDP is to co-ordinate work of municipalities together with other sphere of government. It is a coherent plan to improve the quality of life for all citizens within an area. It takes into account the existing conditions, problems and reasons available for development. The plan looks at economic and social development for the area as a whole and provides a framework for how land should be used, what infrastructure and services are needed and how the environment should be protected.
