From Senkhu: 20131009. The request has been amended to seek for the following records on 3 October 2013:

Copies of any and all records, or part of records, relating to a community leader in Braklaagte, a village near Zeerust in North West Province in the period 1949 to 1998, relating to the late Mr John Lekoaloane Sebogodi (born in 1901), including but not limited to:
1. Police or security surveillance records relating to Mr John Sebogodi’s role as a community leader opposing homeland incorporation of Braklaagte into Bophuthatswana (including but not limited to his role as Headman of the Bahurutshe ba ga Moiloa tribe at Braklaagte from 1949, his arrest on 12 April 1960 and again in January 1967, and reports from the police in the Transvaal and Pretoria about unrest in the community).
2. Court hearings relating to a charge against Mr John Sebogodi of leaving the country without permission including but not limited to his trial on 14 March 1967 and in the Supreme Court of the Transvaal in June 1967 (including but not limited to evidence, witness statements, transcripts of hearings and any internal briefing documents).
3. Police or security surveillance records relating to Mr John Sebogodi’s role as a community leader opposing homeland incorporation of Braklaagte into Bophuthatswana including but not limited to clashes between police and the Braklaagte community for the period before and after 1 July 1989.

It is noted that Mr John Sebogodi was periodically paid by the Department of Native affairs for his services in his position as the acting Headman of the Bahurutshe ba ga Moiloa tribe at Braklaagte.  That is, the records requested relating to Mr John Sebogodi relate to his role as an official employed by a public body, noting that some of the requested documents are already publicly available.
