Request to DEA for a copy of the national contaminated land register referred to in section 41 of NEMWA.

11 November 2015 - we received the National Contaminated Land Register. We were confused because the register was shorter than one received for just the Eastern Cape in response to another request. We sent through a number of queries. 9 December 2015 - we finally received a response to our queries. The response says that the register sent to us is complete. The register only refers to areas where site assessment reports have been received, reviewed, and a decision has been taken that the land is contaminated. The letter also says that the Department is planning to make the register available online.
