Information regarding the development and distribution of a popular version of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission's (TRC's) Final Report.
The Truth and Reconciliation Commission of South Africa made the following recommendation in its final report:
“POPULAR REPORT
34. The Commission will hand the Minister of Justice the completed popular version of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission’s report.
35. The Commission recommends that the Minister has this printed, published, and distributed to schools and tertiary institutions in conjunction with the Ministry of Education.”
This recommendation is found in the report at: Volume 6, Section 5, Chapter 7 - Findings and Recommendations, pg. 732.
SAHA requests from the Department of Justice any and all information relating to the conceptualization, development and distribution of the popular report, including but not limited to:
1) Information about any reference groups, departments, personnel or other parties tasked with or contracted to work on the popular report;
2) Copies of drafts of the popular report;
3) Plans to complete and/or distribute the popular report;
4) Timelines to complete and/or distribute the popular report;
5) Steps taken to complete and/or distribute the popular report;
6) The budget for the creation and/or distribution of the popular report.
