A request for copies of records relating to the Atomic Energy Board’s (now known as the South African Nuclear Energy Corporation) activities during the mid-1980’s to 1993 relating to the nuclear weapons program including but not limited to the following records:
• Documents that relate to making the decision to terminate/dismantle the nuclear weapons program (mid-1980s to 1991).
• Minutes of meetings and other documents pertaining to the ad hoc cabinet committee during the years 1989-90 that advised the government on the dismantling procedure of the South African nuclear programme, especially from the AEB perspective.
• Correspondence between the AEB/AEC and the South African government, Armscor and the SADF regarding the termination of the nuclear weapons program from 1988-1993.
• Internal correspondence/memos between AEB’s departments and projects pertaining the end of the nuclear weapons programme of South Africa from 1988-1993.
• Minutes of meetings of the Board of Directors and Board of Executives as well as any other senior management meeting relating to the decision to dismantle the South African nuclear weapons programme.
• Documents pertaining to the reasons for the termination of the South African nuclear weapons programme especially under Former President De Klerk during 1989-1990.
• Former President De Klerk’s official dismantling order in 1990 and his request to create a timetable for dismantling in 1989.
